A natural approach – no orthotics, no surgery, no medication
A child’s foot will undergo remarkable developmental changes from the time they are conceived to the time they are fully grown.
Foot problems in children may be related to circulation, skin and nail condition, nerve related and / or mechanical (the way they are moving / walking). Mechanical foot related problems are the most common forms of problems seen and treated at the Foot Posture Centre. From curly toes, flat feet, pigeon toed, growing pains, constant tripping, toe walking, footwear advice and persistent foot and leg pain.
Treatment in children is generally required when there is: Pain or fatigue i.e. often tripping, excessive foot pronation (rolling in) or supination (rolling out), a family history of foot / leg problems, a presence of deformity e.g. bunions, claw toes and/or abnormal shoe wear.
Foot Posture Centre Podiatrists see children of all ages and recommend they should have their feet checked by 2 years old to prevent future problems. Our treatment of your child’s feet may include a combination of foot orthotics, padding/strapping, foot mobilisation, corrective exercises, gait retraining and postural correction.
If you are concerned about any aspect of your child’s foot and leg development make an appointment with the podiatrist at the Foot Posture Centre and have your concerns answered.
